The 11th series of the Koko Krunch Junior Taekwondo Championships for 7-12 year olds was held at Toa Payoh Stadium on the 12th and 13th of March this year.
It was an eagerly awaited opening to the 2016 competition season with the Acme Team in high spirits to test their skills against some of the best junior taekwondo players in Singapore.

Day One saw our junior poomsae team take the stage across all belt grades from yellow 1 to poom belt.  Excitement filled the air as our young Acme players emerged victorious with total of 20 gold.

This was especially heartwarming as for some, it was their first ever medal achieved in competition.

Mr and Mrs Hia, parents of 9 year old poom belt and first time poomsae gold medal winner commented, “the regular training under Ms Joyce Lim really helped him improve and the opportunities to train overseas for exposure really kept him motivated.  It’s great to see him enjoying taekwondo so much”.

Day Two was kyorugi and the competition was tough.  As regular competitors know, a match can be won or lost in the blink of an eye.  Acme achieved some victories and there were also some tears, but over all, every competition is a positive learning journey that brings our team from strength to strength.

The last set of events saw our young juniors compete in the Team Creative Poomsae category, executing a sharp and timely routine, clinching them the final gold of the competition.

And finally, Team Acme was awarded the Koko Krunch Overall Regional Championship trophy which ended our outing on a high note.

For all of us at Acme, winning or losing isn’t so crucial.  It’s the journey as a team that brings the most satisfaction.  That in itself is the greatest victory.
